EXECLUSIVE STORY ABOUT HOLLYWOOD FILM/TV ACTOR * MUSICAL PRODUCER AND PUBLISHED AUTHOR ROBRT L JAMISON
SM- Today we have the pleasure of talking to Dr. Robert L. Jamison, how’s life treating you sir? Everything is going well, thank you for speaking with me
SM- You’re a resident of Los Angeles, CA but a Memphis native. Why the move?
Yes, I am A Memphis native born and raised in Shelby County TN. I grew up in the heart of Midtown in a low-income housing community Lamar Terrace, a new site which is now called the University Place. A great influence in my life growing up is my Beloved mother Mary V. Lewis who died on September 6, 2012 My mother's death was painful for our entire family. After a long and emotionally wrenching struggle with stage 4 lung cancer and the setting of many of her health conditions played a significant part of my success in health care. After the death of my Mother and the divorce from my ex-wife on December 12, 2012 I up and relocated to Los Angeles to begin a new start of my life
SM- At what point in time did you explore and take the journey to become a 33-year healthcare professional?
I remember living in the projects, I was a teenager when I came home from a club in Memphis called The Family Affair. I was totally intoxicated LOL and my mother looked me straight in the eyes and told me that I wasn't going to be nothing but a drug addict and alcoholic. I didn't want to disappoint her so as a senior in high school I made a significant decision in my life. I sacrificed my friendships with a lot of my project buddies and changed my surroundings to drop the drug habits. I got a good paying job at Townsend Interiors as a pillow stuffer and a few years later I opened up my first business (a upholster shop) called Jamison and Associates. In 1989 I made a transition into healthcare and started my medical career as a Patient escort at Baptist Memorial Hospital which is a University of Tennessee Training facility located Downtown Memphis in the Medical Center District. Several months later I relocated to BMH East, where I was granted a promotion to work as a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Technician in Recovery Room and one years later I started a Fellowship Training in General GYN Cardiovascular Orthopedic Neurology and Plastic Surgery as a certified First Assistant and (2) years later I continued the fellowship program as a Physician Assistant under the leadership of Dr. Edward Garrett, MD a Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon with a Peripheral Vascular Surgery Group. Subsequently in 2007 I obtained my PhD Degree in Health Science and opened my own medical practice a PICC Line Clinic called Intravenous Nurses, Inc. And was published in the Memphis Business Journal, A Demand for complex IV procedures prompt business ventures.
SM- You are currently the Founder of Alternative Healthcare LA, how did that take place?
Upon relocating to Los Angeles I joined the Integrated Physician Medical Group and created a practice created Behavioral Health Clinic called Alternative Healthcare LA . It was established to assist practices in remote locations with their medical and psychiatric needs. One of their available tools is a Behavioral Health Assessment (BHA). This assessment helps identify: Trauma (PTSD), Depression, Anxiety, Suicide, Substance Abuse, and Bipolar disorder and tracks the individuals progress over time. The test is secure, HIPAA compliant, and takes about ten minutes to complete. The results are provided to the individual and the appropriate management team for evaluation to take the next steps to get you the professional assistance they require.
SM- 5 Stars Music Group Concert Series has worked with some legendary artists and groups, what do you enjoy the most from this brand?
I created the brand 5 Stars Music Concert Series because every artist that I am currently working with is an old school recording artist and the best in the Industry. They deserve 5 Stars rating because most of the groups and legendary artist (music) is what I grew up listening to
SM- You're consistently supporting the St. Jude Childhood Cancer Research Program, in honor of your nephew, Dereck Dawson and Children around the world. SM- How much does that organization mean to you?
This organization means a lot to me. I support St Jude because the Doctors and Medical staff saved my nephew's life. On top of that we fundraise through music because it's a great way to bring the community together to support this cause.

SM- You're very committed to funding Cancer Research and raising money through fundraising efforts for St Jude Children's Hospital Childhood Cancer Research Program. What message about Cancer do you advise readers to know and take heed to?
Our children are a special part of our lives and we cannot take their health for granted. As the world leader in volunteerism I feel a responsibility to unite our broader community, and to use this moment to help St Jude to become stronger.
SM- What is it about St. Jude you love and appreciate the most?
I appreciate the fact that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Treatments invented at St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and we will not stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries we make, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.

SM- How did the collaboration with "The Temprees" and "Bar-Kays" come about?
The Temprees and The Barkays are Stax Records Legends we all are from Memphis It’s the anniversary year for our Memphis Music Trios Del, Scotty and Bo "The Temprees" RIH Original member Jasper "Jabo" Phillips The Group is a member of Memphis sounds at Stax Records and celebrating their 50th Anniversary with various concerts and events over the past year. I wrote a book titled "Memories" to honor these three pillars of Memphis soul music, and a few more groups like them, I offer my memories of my friends as a lifelong fan of Memphis’ 60s and 70s greatest soul songs. I became a Stax fan at age 15, some 44 years ago, that's when I discovered my favorite Stax Records Groups. The Legendary Temprees, Al Green,The Bar-Kays, Mad Lads, Issac Hayes, J Black Foot and The Soul Children, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Ben Cauley, Albert King, The Staple Singers, Johnny Taylor, Otis Redding, The Emotions, Sam and Dave, dang that's just to name a few.I grew up in the heart of Midtown Memphis in a low-income housing community Lamar Terrace and around a lot of our most famous recording artists. On top of that I hung out with a few of them on Beale Street, at Club Paradise and at The Family Affair. Celebrities like Ruby Jackson, Rufus Thomas, BB King, Chick Roger's, Isaac Hayes, The Barkays, J Black Foot. But Issac Hayes, Alfred and BB King restaurant was the spot where you can find all the stars.
Ironically, it was a great day at BMH surgery. It is where I first met Del Calvin, one of the Temprees Lead Singers. This all happened in the early 90's at Baptist Memorial Hospital then eventually I met Harold Scotty Scott another amazing and bubbly artist and original Temprees member. I had already known of Jabo while hanging out in Riverside with a few of my best friends Quinton Bowright, Terry Blaine and Wardell Baxter. In 2000, I became a Music Producer and I got a personal tour of the Stax Museum with some of my amazing musical friends along with J Black Foot & Ollie Nightingale, followed by drinks at the Family Affair on East St. It's where they performed at including our two amazing Funk Bands The Barkays and Confunkshun. Sadly Foot and Ollie passed years later, but the memories & music live on.
My Music journey began back in the day while living in the projects and years later I made some significant moves. I joined a church choir with my big brother William Chilly, Bill Rankin and Frank Phillips who are current members of the Stax Records Mad Lads and Ollie Hoskins of the Dixie Nightingale was another one of our favorite lead singers. We were members of the Magnolia First Baptist Male Chorus but for me as the (President) of the group. It was a roll of a lifetime to sing background for so many amazing professional artists. My family and I we grew up listening to The Temprees sounds and right til this day they will always be one of my favorite groups from Memphis. I love their new record label titled "From The Heart" especially the upbeat song "We Do Music" but I still Love The Temprees signature hit songs "Dedicated To The One I Love" "Explain It To Your Mama" "Love Maze" and "Out of My Reach". Because of Stax, The Southern Soul of Memphis is in my musical heart, always and Forever and Stax/Volt is still my favorite record label(s).SM- Let's talk about your acting career, can you list some shows of the accomplishments you had doing TV production?
As a film/TV producer I believe in making dreams come true and for those of you who know me.. you know that my passion is to always give back and to build platforms for others to shine. My work has always and will always provide opportunity for the underprivileged, unsung talent in my community and beyond, making dreams come true. Now I want to use my past acting experience to inspire new upcoming actors and provide them with resources on how to jump start their acting careers by working closely with me and some of the people I have close ties to. Such as casting directors,, movie directors, executive producers, film makers and set production crew members ."Surviving Tough Times" is a gripping story about (Me) a Memphis Healthcare Professional going through the hardships of life through abuse, addiction, heartache, death, & homelessness with a quest for redemption. Surviving Tough Times...a Film by Robert L Jamison...Directed by Rasheed Lateef and Global Content Media I wrote the movie Surviving Tough Times because life has knocked me down a few times. It has shown me things I never wanted to see, I have experienced sadness and failures. But I also wanted to shed light on the great city Memphis TN simply because I am proud of where I "come from" In short the film is about me and my struggles. It shed light on how I learned to survive and craft a new way to live under The most unusual set of circumstances. It's about the youth of today's gang drugs, violence, and what could happen to teens if they take the wrong path and where it could lead them.
